XAMK Research Pavilion

South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK) have investigated the psychophysiological effects of rooms with interior wooden surface materials.

Futudesign designed two study rooms with CLT structures. The pavilion design with tilting walls was created parametrically using Rhino Grasshopper.
The script produced cnc-ready geometry for the clt element manufacturer. Outer surface was burned at Xamk’s wood technology laboratory to improve weather resistance. Xamk also added the finishing touches to the interiors for the testing events.

The test rooms were located in a pine forest near Saimaa Stadium in Mikkeli
