The Helsinki Distilling Company’s whiskey cellar and visitor center is located in a 160-year-old ice cellar constructed from massive granite blocks. The cellar hosts up to 100 000 liters of Finnish whiskey maturing in old oak barrels.

Futudesign designed the bar and showroom where visitors can have tastings and get to know every product the HDCO has produced. Products are being displayed on the seemingly floating slender oak shelves. Indirect lightning in the shelves highlights the granite walls and subtle color differences of different age whiskeys and other drinks.

The simple material palette of natural oak and cognac leather is an obvious choice, while the round bar tables with laser etched barrel end signs and the furniture with a wood intarsia grid tie the venue further to its surrounding setting.
