The Cultural History Museum of Åland

Futudesign together with architect Markus Wikar is the designer of the new main exhibition in The Cultural History Museum of Åland. The museum is a cultural history museum including archaeology, ethnology and architecture. The permanent section of the exhibition presents the Åland islands in the broadest sense through 7500 years of the islands’ history. The linear exhibition design leads the visitor chronologically through history. The layered landscape is customized to display artifacts of different sizes and forms. The previous main exhibition was installed 35 years ago in a new modernist museum building designed by Helmer Stenroos in 1981.
