Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture

The brief was to design the common spaces of Aalto Arts in the newly built Väre building in Otaniemi. Aalto Arts relocated 1,5 years ago to the new Aalto University Campus and were in need of spatial elements that would indicate and even underline the functions and atmosphere of an art and design school. The concept consisted of colorful spatial elements that would both help students navigate within the building and create an inviting atmosphere in the different spaces. The students organized a project called “Make Väre Ours” and provided useful information about the spatial functions. The goal was to design spaces where students would feel both inspired and proud of their school and create spaces that would answer to the needs and requests of the Arts students as well as staff.
