The Cultural History Museum of Åland
Futudesign together with Markus Wikar have been selected as the designers of the new main exhibition in Ålands museum.
It is a cultural history museum including archaeology, ethnology, architecture and natural history. The permanent section of the exhibition presents the Åland Islands in the broadest sense, from past to present. The treasures shown in the museum include the world's oldest champagne bottles found from Vrouw Maria, a ship that sank in 1771.
The previous main exhibition was installed 32 years ago in a new modernist museum building designed by Helmer Stenroos in 1981.
