Art Hotel Helsinki
Finland’s first art hotel will be located in Jätkäsaari in a beautiful new housing area very close to the western harbour of Helsinki. The area is yet very international because of the fast growing passenger traffic from Tallinn and St. Petersburg. The new construction will be an inspiring, beautiful and contemporary combination of a hotel and an art gallery. Art Hotel creates a new urban space, where citizens and hotel visitors can enjoy art and a combination of activities.
Facade of the hotel is like paintings in Salon de Paris in the 18th and 19th century. The Salon, in its early formation, acted as an audit of what art was being made at one place at one time. The facade acts as an inverted salon hung – an array of Finnish contemporary art is visible inside the hotel rooms! Fragments of art pieces connect the hotel rooms and make every room an individual piece of art.
20 rooms out of 80 will be designed by the most famous Finnish contemporary artists such as Jan-Erik Andersson, Lauri Astala, Liisa Hietanen, Martti Jämsä, Pekka Jylhä, Jouko Korkeasaari, Mika Kaurismäki, Tuula Lehtinen, Rosa Liksom, Stefan Lindfors, Heikki Marila, Silja Puranen, Kim Simonsson, Jani Tolin and Anu Tuominen.
